Materials Tracker Software

Vela Systems Materials Tracker software for construction projects brings new efficiencies to materials and production management. Instead of printed spreadsheets and color-coded drawings, Materials Tracker utilizes Tablet-PCs to electronically capture information directly from the field and then automatically updates all parties of the status and condition of various types of "component" materials (i.e. pre-cast concrete, steel, curtain walls, etc.). This enables field personnel to ensure the project runs smoothly, while providing managers up-to-date project status information. On projects using Building Information Models, Materials Tracker seamlessly integrates, leveraging the model as a source of all materials while providing a powerful visualization tool that shows material statuses.

Materials Tracker Benefits

  • Accurately assess the status of "component" materials and equipment in the supply chain (e.g., manufactured, ready to ship, arrived, installed).
  • Drive visibility into critical path project components and related payments to suppliers and vendors.
  • Improve production/construction planning with accurate supply chain information.
  • Reduce project and financial risk with an automated process that enables field personnel to track expected vs. actual quality of materials.

Materials Tracker Capabilities

  • Track the status of materials throughout the entire supply chain: shipping, delivery, storage, staging, and installation.
  • Track any type of "component" such as materials, equipment, modular construction, etc.
  • Filter and sort information by type.
  • Associate photos, audio, mark-ups, and sketches with materials.
  • Capture electronic signatures for audit trail, reporting compliance and accountability.
  • Mobility Framework enabled: works on and off-line as job site conditions demand.
  • Integrates with building information modeling (BIM) solutions: populate material lists and then update models with key status information.

The old method was to use spreadsheets and color-coded drawings to track things. Now, at a glance, we can figure out if the manufacturer is producing in the correct construction sequence.
