Commissioning & Handover Software

Commissioning: Unlike traditional paper-based systems, the Vela Systems mobile Commissioning solution captures all system and equipment information electronically, right in the field, which saves time and reduces errors. Dynamic reporting shows the statuses of all systems and equipment, enabling commissioning agents and other responsible parties to better manage project status.

Handover: Commissioning information and linked documents from Vela Systems can be the handover deliverable to the owner for handover and facility operations. There are two options in this regard:

  1. BIM-based handover: Vela Systems can be tightly integrated with BIM to provide a "Handover model" that includes key systems and equipment data (e.g., warranty start dates) as well as key documents. The owner can use this model for ongoing document access and even update it to create an "as maintained" model for Operations. See Field BIM®.
  2. COBie2 or other file-format based handover: File-based commissioning information can be handed over to the owner in a variety of structures and formats, including COBie2 in Microsoft Excel®, .xml or .ifc. In March of 2010, Vela Systems participated in the "COBie Vendor Challenge" and publicly demonstrated compliance with the COBie2 standard. As a result, Vela was certified by the Building Smart Alliance as being COBie2 compliant for commissioning. See the results of this COBie Vendor challenge.

  • Capture and track details about the status of systems and equipment throughout the commissioning process, from delivery inspection through final startup.
  • Include document attachments, photos, mark-ups, sketches and audio recordings as part of the commissioning process.
  • Track, filter, and report on equipment by name, status, or company, including "powered-up" logic, to manage startup and test sequences between equipment.
  • With Library, deliver all commissioning documentation to project team members, including checklists, operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals and manufacturer's warranty information, for the owner, operator and facility manager.
