VELA SYSTEMS PARTICIPATES IN THE AGC BIM FORUM TO ADVANCE BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING

Burlington, MA - June 27, 2008 - Vela Systems is excited to have participated in the BIMForum meetings at the Squaw Creek Resort in Lake Tahoe, California on June 26th & 27th as part of the AGC Building Division meeting. The event included a broad spectrum of panel presentations and discussions, AGC BIMForum sub-forum work sessions, and general sessions, with the goal of advancing the adoption of BIM/VDC (Building Information Modeling/Virtual Design and Construction) in design and construction. Attendees ranged from general contractors and construction managers to subcontractors, architects, engineers, owners, academics, attorneys, insurers, and software providers and technology vendors. With an array of professional backgrounds, interests and experience with BIM, the hosts, presenters and attendees created an insightful and practical environment around the current state, possible trajectories and future potential of Building Information Modeling, from innovative case studies and collaborative success stories by peer companies to the ConsensusDOCS BIM Addendum initiative. The next AGC BIMForum meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 2 & 3, 2008, with the location to be determined.

About BIMForum
"The BIMForum's mission is to facilitate and accelerate the adoption of building information modeling (BIM) in the AEC industry. We will lead by example and synchronize with counterparts in all sectors of the industry to jointly develop best practice for virtual design and construction (VDC). We will share our experiences and execute our goals via online forums, highly useful deliverables and practical industry conferences. We will revolutionize the building industry." (From 'About BIMForum')

Organization
"Although the BIMForum operates as a unified group, chaired by John Tocci of Tocci Building Corporation, six sub-forums have been established to date so that each relevant industry sector and topic is addressed. These subforums collaborate with each other and other industry organizations (AIA, NIBS, NIST, IAI, C3T, 3xPT, CURT, etc.) on interdisciplinary projects to accelerate the adoption of BIM."
