Two good reasons to like Constructech

The online and paper based publication Constructech describes itself as “the construction industry advocate focused on the technology needs of the construction professional dedicated to driving technology initiatives forward.”   I’ve been spending some time on Constructech recently – so I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on that and why it’s been valuable.

1. They aggregate good content.  Constructech recently wrote an interesting round-up article “The Mobile Builder.” It starts with “as builders continue the search for the right mobile apps and improved connectivity, software providers and carriers are coming to market with new partnerships and technologies.”    They reference a Gartner research report on how smartphone usage has increased 27%, while overall cell phone sales decreased 6%.  Clearly more and more powerful devices are getting cheaper and cheaper (see: iPad for construction).

2. They recognize technologies in construction.  Had to say this – we appreciate that they recognize technologies in the construction industry – including us.  Vela was recently named as a Constructech top technology product for the third year in a row.  We’re happy to have the honor.   We’re also happy that Constructech is recognizing technology firms in the industry that are looking to change the game in construction.

At Vela Systems we are looking to help contractors and owners drive corporate programs for construction quality, bring BIM to the field for construction and achieve more efficient projects.  We appreciate that publications like Constructech are helping to raise awareness of positive trends, good technology information, and help point out good products in the industry.   It helps everyone.
