Notes and Quotes from the 2010 Vela Customer Advisory Group

A huge thank you from me and the Vela Systems team to all of the great customers and partners that attended last week’s 2nd annual Customer Advisory Group in Boston, MA.  The two and a half day event featured customer-driven panel discussions on topics like Quality Management, Field BIM, Safety, the Owner’s perspective, new devices (like iPads) in construction and sharing best practices across multiple projects.

We’re in the process of crafting the key takeaways from the event and will share them with our CAG participants as we go forward, but I at least wanted to share some quick observations, notes and photos from the event.

It was terrific to have representation from almost all of our customers!  There are too many to name here individually, but know that we appreciated your attendance and active participation in the event panel discussions.   As you can see from the photos, we had many active and lively idea exchanges between customers, vendors and the overall audience. Here are some notable quotes from them:

  • Quality panel: "The industry needs to move from a culture of shifting blame to a culture of accepting responsibility."
  • Deploying Vela Systems on one and/or many projects panel:  "Sometimes the biggest opponents of using technology become the biggest fans when they start using it."
  • CIO panel:  "We are in the middle of an incredible amount of change in devices for the field.  My attitude towards non-sanctioned devices on my jobsite?  Search and destroy." (laughter)

And a big shout out to our great partners Autodesk, Oracle, Tekla, Trimble, Motion Computing, Constructsecure, and Langan Engineering for their participation and support of the event.

Vela customers: didn't have a chance to attend this year but interested in next year’s Vela Customer Advisory group?  Let us know.
