I’m excited to release a new video showcasing Vela Field BIM with Autodesk Navisworks on iPads.
Honored to be a long-standing Autodesk preferred partner, we help Autodesk create new forms of value through mutually beneficial offerings, including Vela Field BIM-Data and the upcoming Vela Field BIM-Interactive, synchronized with Autodesk Navisworks. This joint collaboration between Autodesk and Vela provides customers with enhanced company and project workflows, increased product functionality, flexibility and extensibility, extended programs beyond the office and to the field at the point-of-construction, and multiplied project stakeholder value beyond construction and on to ongoing operations and maintenance.
Here’s an example of how Autodesk and Vela Systems’ customers and end-users are unlocking new forms of value with BIM and field management programs in the cloud via the connected web-based application and in the field at the point-of-construction either occasionally connected or disconnected via the Vela Mobile iPad application:
In Field BIM-Data, you can map a selection set of equipment objects and properties from the BIM over to the web-based application, Vela Web. In turn, you can add new properties in Vela Web back to the BIM, if those properties are not included in the original model. –For example, the owner requires you to document the serial number for each air-handler for commissioning and handover in the record documentation, which is only on the nameplate of the units in the field and not authored in the base model by the engineer or mechanical trade.
With the equipment list in Vela created from BIM and linked to BIM, you and your team can then collaboratively leverage that equipment set to manage field activities on the jobsite and at the point of construction occasionally connected or disconnected on easy-to-use and relatively economical iPads, and back in the job trailer or office in the cloud connected via web-based application.
Field activities may include performing quality, safety and commissioning tests and checks, documenting as-installed data, and referencing documents, such as O&M manuals, P&IDs or start-up procedures, required by the owner and operator at substantial completion and handover. Accordingly, that data and document set may be accessed by stakeholders, both during construction and post-handover, in the field on the iPad, in the cloud via the web, or in BIM by selecting the model object, depending on your business need or work preference.
You can find additional Autodesk-Vela Systems resources on our Autodesk partner page, including case studies where the technology has been used to help owners with commissioning and handover.
