AGC of Massachusetts Owner Event: Owners’ Expectations Today

AGC of Massachusetts Owner Event

Here’s a great event that we’re attending on May 9th and we recommend that our construction industry colleagues in Massachusetts and in New England join us. The “Owners’ Expectations Today” event hosted by the AGC of Massachusetts, The Association of Commercial & Institutional Builders, will foucs on how contractors, trade contractors, architects, engineers, commissioning agents, vendors, and other stakeholders can improve upon the ability to understand and to meet owners’ requirements, needs, and expectations in construction project delivery. Discussions with the owner panelists and fellow attendees will address new challenges about:

  • Project development
  • Project delivery
  • Decision-making processes
  • Decision-making roles and responsbilities
  • Projects goal and objectives
  • Project value creation
  • Assistance to owners by AEC professionals

Field Management for Owners

Leading owners, developers, and real estate investment trusts (REITs) are increasingly adopting field management for owners, including Field BIM, Field BIM-Data and Field BIM-Interactive. Field management for owners includes programs for quality, safety, documents to the field, commissioning, and handover to ongoing operations and maintenance across the lifecycle of the facility. Information including data and documents, from construction and commissioning is exchanged to owners and operators downstream for a broad spectrum of processes including ongoing operations and maintenance, re-use and repair, renovation and retrofit, and re-commissioning and de-commissioning.

One goal of a field management program for owners is to ensure that the contractor and project team delivers the project to the contracted and specified level of quality, to the owner’s project requirements (OPR).  A second goal is to eliminate issues during the one-year correction period and callbacks during the warranty period, minimizing unplanned interruptions and unscheduled outages to complete or correct deficient and defective work out in the field, at the point-of-construction and at the point-of-operation. Interruptions and outages negatively impact production revenue, occupant satisfaction, and end-user service, and in turn negatively reflect on the performance of the construction management team.
