Vela Systems Publishes a Case Study with CMC Construction on the Grovenor House Success
Boston, MA, August 15, 2006 - Vela Systems, Inc. published a case study with client the CMC Group and CMC Construction highlighting the successful delivery of CMC's Grovenor House project with Vela mobile field administration software. Vela software, among other factors, helped to enable the CMC Group to open the 30-story Grovenor House luxury condominium in Miami four months ahead of schedule and within budget. Accelerating the construction time for CMC was in spite of an array of potential obstacles: a shortage of skilled labor, a record hurricane season, a demand for the highest quality of work from well-educated buyers, and a highly competitive and rapidly changing market.
Developed by Ugo Columbo's CMC Group and designed by architect Revuelta Vega Leon, the 32-story high-rise Grovenor House overlooks Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. Vela software acted as a critical tool for CMC to control and assure the meticulous construction quality and execute the premium work as designed. The result: CMC has now redefined the benchmark for residential luxury and the standard for state-of-the-art technology by which all other projects in Coconut Grove and in South Florida will be judged. Speeding up the time to revenue and decreasing the associated project carry costs, CMC's General Superintendent Ken Batchelor led the project to achieve handover approximately four months ahead of schedule. Planned TCO (Temporary Certificate of Occupancy) was April 2006 and actual TCO was January 2006.

One key part of the formula for Grovenor's resounding success was to maximize team efficiency by using Vela Systems mobile field administration software for work list or rolling completion list, punch list and customer service/owner handover. By replacing field notebooks with tablet PCs and Vela's Worklist/Punchlist software module, CMC saved valuable time and improved project quality monitoring.
