How Was Vela Started?
Vela Systems is the result of research into mobile software for the AEC industry
at the MIT Center for Real Estate and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
After extensive analysis of available solutions, Vela's founders recognized the
tremendous opportunity to apply the best practices in mobile information technologies
to address key pain points in the AEC industry.
On balance, the core business of AEC professionals is the production and management of
information. Why is critical project information trapped in the office, and not readily
available in the field where project teams need it most? In today's marketplace,
mobile technologies are a competitive requirement in industries such as supply chain
management and logistics, package handling, and many others. Vela Systems was founded to
empower the key stakeholders in the AEC industry with mobile information technologies - powerful,
focused, and easy-to-use software.

Vela is a constellation. For centuries, navigators used the stars to chart a dependable course. By centralizing and harmonizing project field administration, stakeholders more effectively navigate the course of a project to accelerate delivery and drive transparency. Using Vela Systems, owners, project managers, contractors, architects, engineers and other stakeholders more accurately measure progress, manage resources, and chart a steadfast project track.
